Peep Families Connect Programme Training

Strengthen parent partnerships and staff skills in engaging parents

The value of a parent-school partnership approach to supporting children’s learning is increasingly being recognised and expected by education departments. However, many teachers say they have had no parental engagement training (EEF*). 51% of primary school leaders in a DfE survey* said that staff training would help, and 72% wanted guidance or resources for parents.

Peep Antenatal Training

What practitioners will learn and be equipped to deliver:

The Peep Families Connect Programme Training equips practitioners to:

  • use the programme as a flexible way to engage parents and build their confidence in using the programme’s ideas and simple activities to support their child’s development
  • expand your knowledge and skills in engaging and working with parents and carers
  • deliver Families Connect sessions with parents and children together, in one-to-one or group sessions

During the training: You will explore practical delivery ideas, strategies and resources, using the Peep Families Connect Programme. The training values and builds on your knowledge, skills and experience.

The training includes a printed handbook and online access to the Peep Families Connect Programme, full of practical ideas and activities. Both the handbook and login area contain eight session plans and guidance, along with handouts, tips and video clips for you to share with parents and their children.

How Families Connect helps

The Peep Families Connect Programme aims to strengthen:

  • parent-child interactions
  • relationships and engagement between parents and educational settings
  • children’s early learning outcomes

Together, these contribute to narrowing the early learning attainment gap so that all children can reach their full potential.

Families Connect is an evidence-based programme that supports parental engagement in children’s learning, at home and at school. It offers practical ideas to enhance the quality of the home learning environment. The programme consists of eight sessions focusing on personal, social and emotional development, communication, literacy and numeracy. Activities are fun and free or low cost, and can be easily replicated by families at home.

Families Connect was developed and delivered by Save the Children for several years, and we’re delighted that it has now transitioned to Peeple, joining our wider suite of family programmes.
